Sara and Ryan // FilmStrong

This was by far the funniest wedding ceremony I’ve ever filmed…and I’ve filmed a LOT of weddings. I’ve seen everything from bridezillas, to mothers that try to vicariously re-do their own weddings through their daughters, to weddings so traditional and bland that I could film it with my eyes closed. But these guys and their family had me laughing so hard that it actually ruined some of my footage. Normally footage is ruined by someone yawning or a bridesmaid failing at subtly adjusting her bra on the dance floor, so laughter is a delightful way to have my footage ruined.

By the end of the wedding, I had the thought, “How much fun would life be if these were my people?” And I don’t say that lightly, because I have some hilarious, awesome friends that are full of life and love. But it was like these people had all lived in the same house for decades. There were inside jokes that everyone at the wedding understood and laughed at.

Probably the funniest part of the wedding was during the ceremony, when the minister pronounced Sara and Ryan husband and wife. I could already tell by my conversation with him beforehand that he wasn’t exactly a devout member of the clergy. He was rough around the edges at best, and I think most people at the wedding knew that. So it made it even funnier when he announced his credentials. “By the power vested in me by God, the great State of Texas, and getordained.com, I now pronounce you guys husband and wife!”

In such tight groups, it’s often easy to feel like an outsider. I definitely felt like family by the time I left. I’m incredibly impressed with Sara & Ryan’s community, and I think they’re going to have a lot of fun and a whole lot of laughter in life.
